My mentality for carbs is simple really. Protein is what is needed to build Star Wars Baby Yoda shirt , and fats are needed for hormonal balance and a whole host of good things in the body, and both can provide energy. Carbs can do that too…and that’s about it. And yeah, there’s stuff about muscle sparing and insulin spiking and all that, but ultimately there’s very little a carb can do that I can’t do with a fat or protein, and eating carbs is an opportunity cost: if I eat carbs, that means FEWER fats and protein. As it stands, I’m trying to jack up my dietary fats as high as I can to get a solid hormonal balance, as I crashed everything pretty hard when I got super lean in that photo I posted, and this has been helpful in getting things back on track.

I’d like to add that although resistance-training does burn primarily Star Wars Baby Yoda shirt for lifting, it’s also harnessing ATP for lifting, which is not dependent on glycogen reserves. Further, half of the fuel for lifting is coming from body fat, which is going towards recovery between sets, oxygenation, metabolite clearance etc. And finally, you’re not really going to tear through 100% of your liver/muscle glycogen in a 45-90 minute session; it’s just not using that much. Although full no-carb (keto) might present some limitations to gym drive, as long as some carbs are making their way into the body, you’ve got a bank of glycogen to draw from.
