I had a fairly abnormal experience, to be honest. There were definitely awful times, too – I remember being so stressed I Have Two Titles Mom And Mother Cute Flowers Mothers Day T Shirt would vomit. Needless to say that doesn’t happen anymore.Maslow’s hierarchy of needs… Their low levels have been completely fulfilled for so long (or always) that they don’t know or remember what it’s like to live without all them being met. Once you have a residual income to take care of all the lower needs, all that is left is the high needs and those don’t take money. They’re not necessarily wrong, because that last step of “self-actualization” doesn’t need income to be met, they’re just not aware that it isn’t possible until the rest of the needs are met and nearly all of those require money.I mostly just miss the conflict, violence, sex, that kind of stuff. Probably not the kind of things that most people experience.Considering how well off I ended up I don’t think I’d change anything, but yeah – I’m with you. If I was given the choice between how I live now and how I lived then it’s a no-brainer: I’d take how I live now. Being comfortable is worth more to me than being happy.

Glad someone mentioned this. I always think about Maslow when I hear the I Have Two Titles Mom And Mother Cute Flowers Mothers Day T Shirt line, because it’s so short-sighted in the grand scheme of things.Just because the last step can’t be purchased, doesn’t mean the rest of the triangle gets thrown out the window. You need ALL needs fullfilled before happiness/life satisfaction is achieved and, shocker, it’s way easier to work on the last step if you can easily afford the solutions to all the lower levels.Like, what sounds better: spending time and energy trying to self-actualize after having just spent 40 hours at an exhausting job that only pays me enough to just barely survive, and then only if I keep track of every dollar, while also finding time to do all the chores? Or: Spending time with a paid therapist in my free time to help me self-actualize while my cleaning and shopping is done for me by paid assistants/maids in my fully paid-off house?
